One of the most memorable cinema moments in recent years occurred at the start of the hilarious spy spoof Austin Powers in Goldmember. The intrepid spy drops into his car via a Union Jack parachute and uses his driving skills to protect a female motorcyclist from helicopter gunfire.
The movie within a movie featured Tom Cruise as Powers, and once the danger was averted the biker removed her motorcycle helmet to reveal herself as the stunning Gwyneth Paltrow, proclaiming to be an FBI agent (and single mother) with the brilliant name Dixie Normous. All in all, the cameo appearances delighted film-goers all over the world. Here are a few more cameo roles from film and TV which live long in the memory.
Michael Jackson in Men in Black II
Not always one to make guest appearances, the King of Pop turned up briefly in this hit movie about secret aliens, spy equipment and strange memory-cleansing pens. He appeared on a large screen informing Z about some recent developments. His subsequent pleas to join the Men in Black team (“Z, I could be Agent M!”) fell on deaf ears.
